Urgent Care Service

Patients do not have to be registered to see a clinician at Reading Urgent Care Centre.

Reading Urgent Care Centre is a Primary Care service commissioned to provide a maximum of 100 appointments per day. These appointments are allocated between GP Practices, Emergency Department, and self-presenting patients. Some of these patients may be require further investigations such as blood tests and onward referral which the service will arrange to prevent the patient from having to go back to the GP and have a more effective patient journey.

Examples of conditions we treat

  • Abdominal Pain, Indigestion, Constipation, Vomiting and Diarrhoea
  • Allergies, Hay fever, Bites, and Stings
  • Breathing Problems
  • Coughs, Colds, Virus, and flu-like symptoms
  • Emergency Contraception
  • Minor Genitourinary Problems for Men and Women
  • Muscle and Joint Injuries – Strains and Sprains
  • Nose, Throat, Eye and Ear Symptoms; unfortunately, we do not offer ear syringing
  • Skin Complaints – Rashes, Sunburn, Head lice
  • Onward Referrals – Where patients require further investigations or onward referral to other health and, or social care services, these will be made by the UCC preventing patients having to return to their registered GP practice
